The extensive upgrade contains 11 key <span data-descr=\"Ethereum Improvement Proposals\" class=\"old_tooltip\">EIP<\/span> to be implemented simultaneously. One significant innovation is the addition of smart contract functionality to wallets, simplifying their use and recovery.<\/p>\n<p>The implementation of the hard fork in the Sepolia testnet (consensus layer) and Holesky testnet (execution layer) led to <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/ethereums-sepolia-testnet-faces-glitch-post-pectra-activation\">disruptions<\/a>. In the former case, additional complications were caused by <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/ethereum-developers-uncover-interference-in-pectra-deployment-on-sepolia\">malicious interference<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>In Holesky, even after <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/ethereum-testnet-holesky-resumes-after-pectra-update-glitch\">restoring network functionality<\/a>, it was impossible to verify the upgrade&#8217;s functionality regarding validator exits.<\/p>\n<p>Developers decided to create a new long-term testnet to complete the hard fork verification. The test network, named Hoodi, was <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/ethereum-developers-to-launch-new-testnet-hoodi-for-pectra-verification\">launched on March 17<\/a>, and the Pectra update was <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/ethereum-testnet-hoodi-activates-pectra-hard-fork\">deployed<\/a> in the same month.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier, in February, Ethereum developers <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/ethereum-developers-consider-accelerating-network-upgrades\">discussed accelerating<\/a> network upgrades.
