{"id":22732,"date":"2025-04-04T17:14:19","date_gmt":"2025-04-04T14:14:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/ukrainian-securities-regulator-envisions-national-crypto-assets\/"},"modified":"2025-04-04T17:14:19","modified_gmt":"2025-04-04T14:14:19","slug":"ukrainian-securities-regulator-envisions-national-crypto-assets","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/ukrainian-securities-regulator-envisions-national-crypto-assets\/","title":{"rendered":"Ukrainian Securities Regulator Envisions National Crypto Assets"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The National Securities and Stock Market Commission of Ukraine (NSSMC) is developing a draft law on virtual assets, according to the regulator&#8217;s head, Ruslan Magomedov, in an interview with <a href=\"https:\/\/interfax.com.ua\/news\/economic\/1061304.html\">Interfax-Ukraine<\/a>.  <\/p>\n<p>He stated that &#8220;the likelihood of Ukrainian virtual assets emerging is very high with proper regulation.&#8221;  <\/p>\n<p>Magomedov emphasized that the draft law &#8220;has been sitting on the desks of parliament members for over 1.5 years.&#8221; However, he believes the document could be passed in the first reading soon, though the timeline for final approval remains uncertain.  <\/p>\n<p>Magomedov noted that the NSSMC proposes regulating tokens tied to material assets (ART), while the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) focuses on fiat-backed cryptocurrencies. <\/p>\n<p>The model is based on European MiCA standards and was previously presented to the International Monetary Fund.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p><em>&#8220;We propose regulation based on MiCA because we are moving towards the European Union and are candidates for membership. This is not about over-regulating or tightening controls. We want honest, legitimate businesses to be protected from fraudsters,&#8221; Magomedov stressed.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The commission has also proposed a tax model for crypto assets, but the final decision rests with the parliament and the Ministry of Finance.  <\/p>\n<p>The head of the NSSMC believes that virtual assets represent the next stage in the evolution of the capital market. Companies will be able to attract investments through <span data-descr=\"initial coin offering\" class=\"old_tooltip\">ICO<\/span> instead of traditional <span data-descr=\"initial public offering\" class=\"old_tooltip\">IPO<\/span>. <\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p><em>&#8220;I want to use the best of the crypto market, but within a regulated jurisdiction,&#8221; concluded Magomedov.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Back in March 14, the NSSMC <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/ukraine-unveils-cryptocurrency-taxation-framework\">proposed<\/a> a cryptocurrency taxation matrix model.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The National Securities and Stock Market Commission of Ukraine (NSSMC) is developing a draft law on virtual assets, according to the regulator&#8217;s head, Ruslan Magomedov, in an interview with Interfax-Ukraine.
