That\u2019s why we\u2019ve put together \u201cThe AML Handbook\u201d!<\/p>\n<p>We break down what you need to know (and what you need to do) to stay compliant ?<a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/XOt37M6MRh\">https:\/\/t.co\/XOt37M6MRh<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 European Crypto Initiative (@EuCInitiative) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/EuCInitiative\/status\/1915012789602836794?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">April 23, 2025<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p> <script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>The restrictions will affect exchanges, banks, and other service providers.  <\/p>\n<p>Providers will be prohibited from servicing anonymous accounts or dealing with assets that conceal user data, according to Article 79 of the new Anti-Money Laundering Regulation (AMLR), published by the European Crypto Initiative (EUCI). <\/p>\n<p>No exceptions are provided for private tokens.  <\/p>\n<p>The rules are part of a sweeping reform that will also affect bank accounts, safety deposit boxes, and \u201ccrypto assets with anonymization functions.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>According to Vyara Savova, senior policy manager at EUCI, \u201cthe regulatory acts (AMLR, AMLD, and AMLAR) are final, and only the &#8216;fine print&#8217; remains.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Crypto platforms operating in six or more EU countries will come under the direct supervision of the Anti-Money Laundering Authority (AMLA). By 2027, the regulator will select 40 companies \u2014 at least one from each member state.  <\/p>\n<p>The selection criteria include:  <\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>having at least 20,000 customers in one country;  <\/li>\n<li>an annual turnover exceeding \u20ac50 million.  <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Additionally, mandatory user verification will be introduced for transactions of \u20ac1,000 or more.  <\/p>\n<p>Back in April, <span data-descr=\"European Securities and Markets Authority\" class=\"old_tooltip\">ESMA<\/span> <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/eu-regulator-concerned-about-cryptocurrency-and-tradfi-integration\">expressed concern<\/a> over the integration of the crypto industry with <span data-descr=\"traditional finance\" class=\"old_tooltip\">TradFi<\/span> structures.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>In 2027, the EU will implement new anti-money laundering (AML) regulations, prohibiting anonymous crypto accounts and the use of private coins such as Monero and Zcash.
