The extensive upgrade contains 11 key <span data-descr=\"Ethereum Improvement Proposal \u2014 proposal for improving Ethereum\" class=\"old_tooltip\">EIP<\/span>. One significant innovation is the addition of smart contract functionality to wallets, simplifying their use and recovery.<\/p>\n<p>The implementation of the hard fork in the Sepolia testnet (consensus layer) and Holesky testnet (execution layer) led to <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/ethereums-sepolia-testnet-faces-glitch-post-pectra-activation\">disruptions<\/a>. In the former, additional complications were caused by <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/ethereum-developers-uncover-interference-in-pectra-deployment-on-sepolia\">malicious interference<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>In Holesky, even after <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/ethereum-testnet-holesky-resumes-after-pectra-update-glitch\">restoring network functionality<\/a>, it was impossible to verify the upgrade&#8217;s functionality regarding validator exits.<\/p>\n<p>Developers decided to create a new long-term testnet to complete the hard fork verification. The test network, named Hoodi, was <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/ethereum-developers-to-launch-new-testnet-hoodi-for-pectra-verification\">launched on March 17<\/a>, with the update <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/ethereum-testnet-hoodi-activates-pectra-hard-fork\">deployed<\/a> in the same month.<\/p>\n<p>According to the Ethereum team, the main features implemented during the upgrade are active on the mainnet, including:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>smart contract wallets;<\/li>\n<li>doubling the data storage capacity for L2 network scaling;<\/li>\n<li>improvements to the user interface for validators.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-conversation=\"none\" data-lang=\"en\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Pectra is live on Ethereum mainnet!<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Smart account wallet UX features now active<br \/>\u2014 L2 scaling data storage blobs increased by 2x<br \/>\u2014 Validator UX improvements live<\/p>\n<p>Community members will continue to monitor for any issues over the next 24 hours.<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Ethereum.org (@ethereum) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/ethereum\/status\/1920061243966054696?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">May 7, 2025<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p> <script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>Developers will continue to monitor for potential issues due to the hard fork activation over the next 24 hours.<\/p>\n<p>As <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/ethereums-pectra-upgrade-unlikely-to-boost-price-says-expert\">predicted<\/a> by Parataxis Capital co-founder Edward Chen, the extensive upgrade did not &#8220;boost&#8221; Ethereum&#8217;s price. Quotes have risen by 2.5% over the past 24 hours, while Bitcoin gained 3% during the same period (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.coingecko.com\/\">CoinGecko<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p>The next Ethereum hard fork, named Fusaka, is <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/ethereums-fusaka-hard-fork-scheduled-for-late-2025\">scheduled<\/a> for the second half of the year (September-October).
