Starting June 2, she will <a href=\"https:\/\/theblockchainassociation.org\/blockchainassociation-announces-commissioner-summer-mersinger-as-ceo-to-lead-next-chapter-of-u-s-crypto-policy\/\">assume<\/a> the role of CEO at the nonprofit Blockchain Association.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p><em>\u201cShe is the perfect leader for the association at a pivotal moment,\u201d said Blockchain Association board president Marta Belcher.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Mersinger&#8217;s departure marks the second change at the CFTC this month: earlier, Christy Goldsmith Romero <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cftc.gov\/PressRoom\/SpeechesTestimony\/romerostatement022625?utm_source=govdelivery\">announced<\/a> her plans to leave the Commission. This will leave the regulator with two active commissioners.<\/p>\n<p>Mersinger&#8217;s decision coincides with Congress&#8217;s active work on legislation regulating stablecoins and the digital asset market as a whole. The projects have faced criticism due to Donald Trump&#8217;s involvement in the crypto market.<\/p>\n<p>In April, Blockchain Association CEO Kristin Smith <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theblock.co\/post\/349116\/blockchain-association-ceo-kristin-smith-departs-to-join-new-solana-policy-institute\">announced<\/a> her move to the Solana Policy Institute.<\/p>\n<p>Back in December 2024, a16z Crypto&#8217;s policy director Brian Quintenz <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/brian-quintenz-emerges-as-leading-candidate-for-cftc-chair\">emerged<\/a> as the leading candidate for the position of CFTC chairman.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Commissioner CFTC Summer Mersinger will step down on May 30.
