Yeah, that was me having a one-to-one meeting with <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/0xstark?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@0xstark<\/a> about that &#8220;secret second Geth team&#8221; I found out about. Within 24 hours I was fired from the foundation \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Threatening to quit is unacceptable and destroys team morale.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 P\u00e9ter Szil\u00e1gyi (@peter_szilagyi) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/peter_szilagyi\/status\/1932732489941807588?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">June 11, 2025<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p> <script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>Szil\u00e1gyi disclosed this in a series of posts on X. He stated that his &#8220;creative sabbatical&#8221; in November was actually linked to a meeting with foundation representative Josh Stark. During the conversation, the developer demanded explanations regarding the &#8220;secret second Geth team,&#8221; which he had discovered shortly before.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p><em>&#8220;Within 24 hours I was fired from the foundation,&#8221; he wrote.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>According to Szil\u00e1gyi, EF threatened to cease funding Geth. Instead, developers, including himself, were offered $5 million to spin off the client into a private company. Szil\u00e1gyi claims he refused this and similar offers several times.<\/p>\n<p>The developer&#8217;s posts were a response to a statement by Tomasz Sta\u0144czak, the new co-director of EF and developer of the second most popular client, Nethermind. Sta\u0144czak asserted that &#8220;there are no plans to remove Geth.&#8221;<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">There is no plan to remove Geth. It is a great client software and a talented team contributing to protocol security. We will maintain \/ support Geth and continue making it even better and faster.<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Tomasz K. According to Ethernodes, it powers nearly 63% of the network&#8217;s active nodes.
