CoinDCX is fully focused on the Indian crypto market and is not for sale!\u201d he wrote. <\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>On July 28, Mint, citing anonymous sources, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.livemint.com\/companies\/news\/coinbase-coindcx-44-million-crypto-heist-us-cryptocurrency-coinswitch-11753706315291.html\">reported<\/a> that Coinbase was discussing the acquisition of CoinDCX. <\/p>\n<p>A Coinbase representative declined to comment on \u201crumours and speculation.\u201d According to him, the company is \u201cexploring opportunities\u201d for global growth.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>\u201cOur ambitious mission is to expand economic freedom worldwide. We continuously explore various opportunities, from creating new products and acquisitions to partnerships and investments, to accelerate the implementation of our strategy,\u201d he stated in a comment to <a href=\"https:\/\/cointelegraph.com\/news\/coinbase-talks-to-buy-hacked-crypto-exchange-coindcx-report\">Cointelegraph<\/a>. <\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Why Did the Rumours Seem Credible? <\/h2>\n<p>Coinbase is actively strengthening its position in the Indian market. In March, the exchange <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/coinbase\/status\/1899430084546629707\">registered<\/a> with India&#8217;s Financial Intelligence Unit. Mint sources also noted that the American crypto exchange already holds stakes in two leading Indian platforms: CoinDCX and CoinSwitch Kuber. <\/p>\n<p>In May, Coinbase <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/coinbase-strikes-2-9-billion-deal-to-acquire-deribit\">acquired<\/a> the largest derivatives exchange Deribit for $2.9 billion, and in July, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.coinbase.com\/en-gb\/blog\/Coinbase-acquires-LiquiFi-the-leading-token-management-platform\">Liquifi<\/a> project. This fuelled rumours of a possible expansion through the acquisition of CoinDCX, whose user base exceeds 14 million people. <\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">CoinDCX Hack<\/h2>\n<p>On July 18, CoinDCX <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/coindcx-exchange-suffers-44-million-hack\">suffered<\/a> a hacker attack. The perpetrators stole $44.2 million, gaining access to an operational account that the exchange used to provide liquidity on a partner platform. Gupta assured that all user funds are safe. <\/p>\n<p>A few days after the incident, the CoinDCX team launched a bounty program for white-hat hackers. CoinDCX emphasised that the platform is ready to fully cover the losses thanks to its financial stability. They noted that the platform&#8217;s annual revenue exceeds $132 million.
