In some cases, it refrains from providing a direct answer unless the student engages actively.<\/p>\n<p>The mode is available to Free, Plus, Pro, and Team users, and will be rolled out to Edu users in the coming weeks. It was developed in collaboration with educators and experts, marking \u201cthe first step towards enhancing ChatGPT\u2019s educational features.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Chatbots are increasingly becoming indispensable tools in education, yet studies <a href=\"https:\/\/time.com\/7295195\/ai-chatgpt-google-learning-school\/\">indicate<\/a> they may reduce the development of critical thinking skills.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>\u201cEducation is one of the key areas for the development of artificial intelligence. As part of Stanford University&#8217;s NextGenAI and SCALE initiatives, we are conducting long-term research to better understand how AI tools shape the future of learning,\u201d noted OpenAI.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>In April, a similar feature called Learning Mode was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.anthropic.com\/news\/introducing-claude-for-education\">introduced<\/a> by Anthropic for its AI, Claude.<\/p>\n<p>The decision to use Study Mode remains with the student \u2014 they can always switch back to the regular mode for direct answers.<\/p>\n<p>Back in July, OpenAI CEO Sam Altman <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/sam-altman-highlights-trust-risks-with-chatgpt\">stated<\/a> that personal conversations with ChatGPT are not legally protected.
