He began by highlighting the protocol&#8217;s 100% uptime since launch, the diversity of clients, and the 35.7 million ETH worth $130 billion locked in staking.\u00a0<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/lh7-qw.googleusercontent.com\/docsz\/AD_4nXcjMd1ws-g7DtrtFX_7A9CSl3-kbR2tcb0Z0RlIf0jbvZwiWriYHMB3nHF4WbdsK0_6XdY7tGiAvVrQQMf63Xl-gSXd41S4-FVGik0qQVjxWVK6C-8VR29pFCKscxQXGYZSvtEN?key=buKNiikGkRJ-Ma7LQrjxog\" alt=\"Ethereum Foundation Unveils Decade-Long Strategy for Network\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Ethereum&#8217;s uptime performance over the years. Source: <a href=\"http:\/\/ethereumuptime.org\">ethereumuptime.org<\/a>.\u00a0<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Drake believes Ethereum is poised to become the &#8220;foundation of the internet of value.&#8221;<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>&#8220;[The blockchain] must endure everything: nation-states, quantum computers. Whatever happens. Call it fort mode. If the internet works, then Ethereum works. If the world is online, then the world is on-chain,&#8221; stated the programmer.\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Acceleration\u00a0<\/h2>\n<p>Drake identified the generation of new resources as a primary necessity for the network. Scaling L1 and expanding blocks are strategic goals.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>He mentioned that a slight increase in performance is expected within 6-12 months. In the long term, the developer envisions the blockchain transitioning into &#8220;beast mode&#8221;:\u00a0<\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>for the first layer \u2014 consumption will be 1 gigagas\/s (providing 10,000 <span data-descr=\"transactions per second\" class=\"old_tooltip\">TPS<\/span>);<\/li>\n<li>for the second layer \u2014 1 teragas\/s (1 million TPS).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>To enhance decentralization, there are plans to integrate <span data-descr=\"zero-knowledge virtual machine\" class=\"old_tooltip\">zkVM<\/span> in real-time at the execution layer and <span data-descr=\"Data Availability Sampling\" class=\"old_tooltip\">DAS<\/span> at the data layer. Drake also suggested &#8220;full chain verification on every browser, wallet, and phone.&#8221;<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Updates and Security<\/h2>\n<p>According to the programmer, the team is working on improvements to the protocol&#8217;s three main components.<\/p>\n<p>At the consensus level, the introduction of the Beacon Chain 2.0 update is planned, which will provide enhanced security and decentralization, as well as finalization &#8220;in a matter of seconds.&#8221; Previously, the initiative was called <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/ethereum-developer-proposes-ambitious-beam-chain-consensus-upgrade\">Beam Chain<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The data layer will be improved with <span data-descr=\"large binary objects\" class=\"old_tooltip\">BLOB<\/span> 2.0. The upgrade includes post-quantum BLOBs and granular object size definition for ease of development in the <span data-descr=\"special memory section for storing arguments passed to a function from outside\" class=\"old_tooltip\">calldata<\/span> format.<\/p>\n<p>The execution layer will be complemented by <span data-descr=\"Ethereum Virtual Machine\" class=\"old_tooltip\">EVM<\/span> 2.0 \u2014 a minimal, SNARK-friendly instruction set that enhances performance while maintaining compatibility with the virtual machine.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>&#8220;[All blockchain components] have been reimagined from first principles. Together they unlock the possibilities of fort mode and beast mode. The goal is abundant performance while adhering to the constraints of immutable continuity, maximal rigidity, and refreshing simplicity,&#8221; added Drake.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The ideal solution to counter impending threats \u2014 quantum computers and the rise of SNARK protocols \u2014 was identified by the developer as hash-based cryptography.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>On May 7, the network of the second-largest cryptocurrency by market capitalization <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/ethereum-activates-major-pectra-upgrade\">activated<\/a> the major Pectra upgrade.
