Although NFTs were not mentioned in the white paper, I think they will find their place where necessary. [\u2026] Some things didn&#8217;t work initially but are now gaining momentum \u2014 for example, prediction markets,\u201d Buterin said.\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The programmer noted that the mission for the coming years will remain the creation of applications \u201cthat advance humanity and improve cooperation,\u201d while protecting users&#8217; digital rights.\u00a0<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Industry Leaders Weigh In\u00a0<\/h2>\n<p>In honor of Ethereum&#8217;s 10th anniversary, representatives of the crypto industry also shared forecasts about the future of the second-largest cryptocurrency network. In comments to <a href=\"https:\/\/cointelegraph.com\/news\/ethereum-2035-how-the-next-10-years-might-look\">Cointelegraph<\/a>, ConsenSys Chief Economist Malles Pai stated:\u00a0<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>\u201cIn the next five or ten years, Ethereum will transform from a leading smart contract platform into the foundation of the next-generation global economy.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>He believes that growth will be driven by tokenization, \u201cwhich will start with stablecoins.\u201d Pai added that attracting new institutional and commercial developers will also play a key role.<\/p>\n<p>Justin Kenna, CEO of <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/gamesquare-acquires-cryptopunk-nft-for-5-15-million\">GameSquare<\/a>, whose company invests in ETH, emphasized that Ethereum is \u201cthe most promising asset of the digital age.\u201d The network of the second-largest cryptocurrency will become \u201cthe basis for payments, revolutionary gaming projects, and brand interactions with users,\u201d he noted.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Sam McIngvale, head of OP Labs, agreed, believing that in the coming years all \u201cmajor companies will switch to Ethereum.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>\u201cEthereum will enable the creation of AI agents for autonomous transactions, new types of social networks, and new gaming economies. The engine of progress is the developer community,\u201d added Coinbase representative Nemil Dalal.\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The Quantum Computing Threat\u00a0<\/h2>\n<p>One of the key challenges for Ethereum is the network&#8217;s resilience to quantum computing. Analysts at Mysten Labs <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/experts-acknowledge-solana-sui-and-near-as-quantum-resistant\">previously highlighted<\/a> this issue. They stated that the blockchains of the two largest cryptocurrencies by market capitalization, which operate on the ECDSA algorithm, are less protected from such a threat.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>In March, Buterin <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/vitalik-buterin-proposes-quantum-resistant-strategy-for-ethereum\">proposed<\/a> protecting users&#8217; funds from quantum computers through a simple \u201crecovery fork.\u201d He noted that this would require transitioning to specific addresses (account abstraction) and implementing quantum-resistant cryptography like Winternitz signatures and <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/starkware-aims-to-scale-bitcoin-with-zk-stark-technology\">STARK technology<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>On July 31, developer Justin Drake presented another solution \u2014 the \u201cLean Ethereum\u201d upgrade plan, which aims to:\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>make the network resistant to quantum attacks;<\/li>\n<li>simplify the technology stack (consensus, data processing, and smart contract execution).\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/AD_4nXe5Ms_Rl0DkNw0wzyO6NLJTjEDRlYC854sW8-i6Y7CHOmgakpgreueTOJPO7i8mjsZybg8WNy004c3Y7o7cE4XGFjojR7P6Ln0jG4SVdPByZIdBvnjPpw8EI_Sv6wwa3IbEg-lheg.webp\" alt=\"Vitalik Buterin Outlines Ethereum's Decade-Long Vision\" class=\"wp-image-263099\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Timeline for the \u201cLean Ethereum\u201d plan. These will allow data verification on the blockchain without revealing its content and protect smart contract execution from quantum computers, Drake noted.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The developer also called for the use of selective data availability checks, which will reduce data storage requirements while maintaining network integrity.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Another proposal is to implement an open <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/RISC-V\">RISC-V<\/a> architecture. Drake emphasized that it will make the consensus layer more secure and simplify technical components.
