Since June, they have bought 2.3m ETH (1.9% of circulating supply). Over the same period, exchange-traded funds accumulated 3.8% of Ethereum\u2019s issuance.<\/p>\n<p>Standard Chartered forecast ether at $7,500 by year-end. According to the bank, companies will keep buying and could lift their combined share to 10% of total supply.<\/p>\n<p>BTC Markets analyst Rachael Lucas <a href=\"https:\/\/cointelegraph.com\/news\/ethereum-the-biggest-macro-trade-over-the-next-10-15-years-fundstrat\">believes<\/a> such accumulation is strategic and long term. In her words, it \u201cremoves significant liquidity from the market\u201d.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p><em>\u201cWhen record inflows into ETFs combine with corporate and sovereign allocations, you get deep structural demand amid constrained supply. That is a recipe for sustained price pressure and a sign that digital assets have firmly entered global capital markets,\u201d she concluded.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>At the time of writing, Ethereum trades around $4,750, nearing the all-time high of $4,878 recorded in January, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.coingecko.com\/en\/coins\/ethereum\">CoinGecko<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Activity on Ethereum<\/h2>\n<p>The average daily number of transactions on Ethereum is holding near a record high, exceeding 1.8m.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/lh7-qw.googleusercontent.com\/docsz\/AD_4nXe-fKs2gTacJFWyGy9XPx19OpFKcrTm4wAXeZ4vKXj0daMKQ4wFv3BEqABIK9Uelm8OkJVCyXeQuFov8x9F-yPqo4SbPTyirH4UFdHiCFjqTatKlA89igj5orMRS3qwvoGmvmHFyw?key=2WqPoODCyHT84pUmWzn2aw\" alt=\"\u041f\u0440\u0438\u0442\u043e\u043a \u0432 Ethereum-ETF \u043f\u0440\u0435\u0432\u044b\u0441\u0438\u043b \u0432\u044b\u043f\u0443\u0441\u043a \u043d\u043e\u0432\u044b\u0445 \u043c\u043e\u043d\u0435\u0442 \u043f\u043e\u0441\u043b\u0435 The Merge\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">\u0418\u0441\u0442\u043e\u0447\u043d\u0438\u043a: <a href=\"https:\/\/app.nansen.ai\/macro\/blockchains?chain=ethereum\">Nansen<\/a>.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>For comparison, the L2 networks Arbitrum and Base processed over 3.4m and 8.6m transactions, respectively, over the same period. Rival layer-1 blockchain Aptos posted 3.8m on August 11.<\/p>\n<p>The number of active addresses on Ethereum has been largely unchanged since 2018, fluctuating between 400,000 and 600,000 with occasional spikes above 1m.<\/p>\n<p>Falling fees on Ethereum\u2019s mainnet have been evident since 2022. The trend was compounded by <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/ethereum-developers-activate-dencun-hard-fork-on-mainnet\">the Dencun upgrade<\/a> in March 2024, which significantly lowered transaction costs for L2 solutions.<\/p>\n<p>The upgrade encouraged users to migrate to cheaper solutions to avoid high mainnet fees \u2014 during periods of congestion they could reach $50 per transaction.<\/p>\n<p>High-throughput layer-1 blockchains such as Solana and Sui are also competing for market share and user attention. That is forcing the Ethereum Foundation to adapt and revisit its scaling roadmap.<\/p>\n<p>Polygon Labs chief Marc Boiron told <a href=\"https:\/\/cointelegraph.com\/news\/eth-transaction-count-rising-5k-push-competition-erodes-fees\">Cointelegraph<\/a> that attempting to compete directly with new L1s on metrics such as throughput could prove \u201cdangerous\u201d for Ethereum.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Ethereum price to reach $15,000<\/h2>\n<p>Fundstrat <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/tom-lee-forecasts-ethereum-at-15000\">forecast<\/a> a rise in Ethereum\u2019s price to $15,000 by the end of 2025. Co-founder Tom Lee said the asset will be \u201cthe biggest macro trade\u201d over the next 10\u201315 years.<\/p>\n<p>He stressed that advances in artificial intelligence and Wall Street\u2019s wider embrace of blockchain technology will help.<\/p>\n<p>Sean Farrell, head of digital-asset research at Fundstrat, <a href=\"https:\/\/fsinsight.com\/macro-strategy\/first-word\/2025\/08\/13\/breakaway-sp-500-on-8-12-on-schedule-1-month-behind-bitcoin-a-sign-of-stren\/\">noted<\/a> that ether could reach $12,000\u201315,000 by year-end, so \u201cthe upside remains substantial\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Lee said Wall Street\u2019s interest will be stoked by forthcoming stablecoin regulation and the <span data-descr=\"U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission\" class=\"old_tooltip\">SEC<\/span> <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/the-sec-sets-out-a-plan-to-lure-crypto-back-to-america\">Project Crypto<\/a>, an initiative aimed at modernising the agency. He added that most \u201cstablecoins\u201d and the projects of major financial firms are built on Ethereum.<\/p>\n<p>The expert also noted that, since the start of the year, Ethereum has outperformed bitcoin: +28% versus +18%.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">USDC\u2019s link to future Ethereum growth<\/h2>\n<p>Over the past month, Circle has minted 5.5bn USDC on the Solana network.
