{"id":27165,"date":"2020-08-12T12:33:39","date_gmt":"2020-08-12T09:33:39","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/?p=27165"},"modified":"2025-08-26T19:08:46","modified_gmt":"2025-08-26T16:08:46","slug":"venezuelas-residents-will-be-able-to-pay-taxes-with-the-petro-digital-currency","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/venezuelas-residents-will-be-able-to-pay-taxes-with-the-petro-digital-currency\/","title":{"rendered":"Venezuela\u2019s residents will be able to pay taxes with the Petro digital currency"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Bolivarian Council of Municipalities of Venezuela signed an agreement, under which citizens will be able to pay taxes in the national digital currency El Petro, as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mpcomunas.gob.ve\/2020\/08\/10\/acuerdo-nacional-de-armonizacion-tributaria-establece-el-petro-como-unidad-de-cuenta-para-pago-de-tributos-y-sancione\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">reported<\/a> on the government website.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>To account for taxpayers using the currency, a separate registry will be created under the leadership of Vice President Delcy Rodr\u00edguez.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>&#8220;This simplifies procedures, making the state&#8217;s work more efficient for the people,&#8221; she noted.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Delcy Rodr\u00edguez will also oversee the creation of a system to track payments in the digital currency for local businesses.<\/p>\n<p>The agreement was signed by 305 of Venezuela&#8217;s 335 municipalities. Regions governed by representatives of opposition parties opposed it.
