The name is a nod to the SpongeBob SquarePants episode and means &#8216;big&#8217;.<\/p>\n<p>\\n<\/p>\n<p>For safety, LND limits throughput to 0.1677 BTC. With version v0.11, LND users gained the ability to &#8216;handle larger transactions and higher volumes&#8217;.<\/p>\n<p>\\n<\/p>\n<p>Using Wumbo will also reduce the fees and overhead required to open and manage a larger number of channels, Lightning Labs said.<\/p>\n<p>\\n<\/p>\n<p>Developers reminded that Lightning wallets are &#8216;hot&#8217; and exposed to numerous risks.
