This was reported by Bitfly, operator of the Ethermine mining pool.<!--more--><\/p>\n<blockquote class=\\\"twitter-tweet\\\">\n<p dir=\\\"ltr\\\" lang=\\\"en\\\">Today another large 51% attack occurred on the <a href=\\\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/ETC?src=hash&#038;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\\\">#ETC<\/a> network which caused a reorganization of over 7000 blocks which corresponds to approximately 2 days of mining. All lost blocks will be removed from the immature balance and we will check all payouts for dropped txs.<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Bitfly (@etherchain_org) <a href=\\\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/etherchain_org\/status\/1299822510607917056?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\\\">August 29, 2020<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\\\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\\\" charset=\\\"utf-8\\\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>According to expert calculations, the depth of the reorganization was 7,000 blocks, roughly two days of mining.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>\u201cAll lost blocks will be removed from the unconfirmed balances. We will also check all payouts for dropped transactions,\u201d emphasized Bitfly representatives.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The Ethereum Classic team recommended miners, exchanges and other services to maintain transaction confirmation requirements at least 7,000 for the time being.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\\\"twitter-tweet\\\">\n<p dir=\\\"ltr\\\" lang=\\\"en\\\">While ETC is still making progress in evaluating proposed solutions, we are aware of the current risk to the network at these low hash rate levels.<\/p>\n<p>To miners, exchanges, and other service providers we suggest keeping confirmation requirements levels well above 7K for now. <a href=\\\"https:\/\/t.co\/l6nwIy5mL2\\\">https:\/\/t.co\/l6nwIy5mL2<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Ethereum Classic (@eth_classic) <a href=\\\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/eth_classic\/status\/1299824170260340737?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\\\">August 29, 2020<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\\\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\\\" charset=\\\"utf-8\\\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>Developers added that ETC&#8217;s current hashrate accounts for around 3% of Ethereum&#8217;s total computing power.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\\\"twitter-tweet\\\">\n<p dir=\\\"ltr\\\" lang=\\\"en\\\">ETC is ~3% of the overall ETH network hashrate.
