{"id":29465,"date":"2020-10-01T12:35:36","date_gmt":"2020-10-01T09:35:36","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/?p=29465"},"modified":"2025-08-27T17:09:38","modified_gmt":"2025-08-27T14:09:38","slug":"odessa-court-keeps-bitsonar-pyramid-founder-in-custody","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/odessa-court-keeps-bitsonar-pyramid-founder-in-custody\/","title":{"rendered":"Odessa Court Keeps Bitsonar Pyramid Founder in Custody"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>On September 30, the Odessa Regional Court of Appeal ordered Alexander Tovstenko, founder of the Bitsonar pyramid, to be remanded in custody, suspected of organizing the murder-for-hire of a former colleague.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>According to <a href=\"https:\/\/odessa.online\/v-odesse-apellyatsionnyj-sud-ostavil-v-sizo-zakazchika-ubijstva-ajtishnika\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">local media<\/a>, Tovstenko refused to participate in the hearing, and his interests were represented by lawyers.<\/p>\n<p>According to investigators, Alexander Tovstenko ordered the murder of former Bitsonar technical employee Yaroslav Shatdchenko (also known as Jan Novak).<\/p>\n<p>The suspect faces life imprisonment.<\/p>\n<p>As previously reported, it was Yaroslav Shatdchenko who exposed that Bitsonar, which positioned itself as an investment fund for algorithmic cryptocurrency trading, was a Ponzi scheme. He named the true pyramid organizer\u2014a former Ukrainian official, Alexander Tovstenko.<\/p>\n<p>In an interview with ForkLog, Shatdchenko claimed that Tovstenko has ties within the security services.<\/p>\n<p>On August 26 in Kyiv, Yaroslav Shatdchenko <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/in-kyiv-former-bitsonar-employee-and-pyramid-whistleblower-abducted\">was kidnapped<\/a> by unknown assailants. As later it emerged, this was carried out by SBU officers with the aim of staging his murder.
