Great catching up on MoneyGram\u2019s digital growth as well as the strong consumer sentiment toward remittances going into this holiday season.<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/MoneyGramMomentum?src=hash&#038;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#MoneyGramMomentum<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/AhOTgByjpg\">https:\/\/t.co\/AhOTgByjpg<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Alex Holmes (@walexholmes) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/walexholmes\/status\/1339308255600906240?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">December 16, 2020<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><br \/>\nThe number of online customers of the service rose 140% during this period, said the head of MoneyGram International (MGI).<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>\u201cWe have been working with Ripple for about 18 months, and the idea was to really push innovation and explore how we can help expand global use of blockchain,\u201d Holmes said.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>MoneyGram announced the partnership in January 2018. Earlier, Holmes said that 10% of transfers between the US and Mexico are processed via the On-Demand Liquidity (ODL) payment solution, which uses Ripple\u2019s XRP token.<\/p>\n<p>According to the head of MGI, the situation in money transfers will change over the next decade, and ODL could gain wider traction by delivering payments in real time.<\/p>\n<p>Demand for such services is growing, and the service needs to maintain adequate liquidity for them, Holmes said.<\/p>\n<p>Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse said that his firm and MGI conducted transactions worth billions of dollars worldwide using XRP.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-lang=\"en\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">Thanks <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/jchatterleyCNN?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@jchatterleyCNN<\/a> for having me on this morning. It has been a really good partnership; we\u2019ve learned a lot together and will continue to push the boundaries of what is possible,\u201d Holmes said.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>In 2019, Ripple invested $50 million in the service.
