Users suspect the platform of an exit scam. The Telegram account of Livecoin&#8217;s executive director has been deleted, and a message about a hack on the exchange appeared on the website.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>At the same time, Ethereum&#8217;s price rose by 960% to $6,500 per token. The platform became available again within a few minutes.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Update:<\/strong> Twitter user @yukio_staker noted that from the Livecoin address <a href=\\\"https:\/\/etherscan.io\/tx\/0x48f78868403829507aabacc54fea53947ee756a9b45879f14873039372f6ca7b\\\" target=\\\"_blank\\\" rel=\\\"noopener noreferrer\\\">285 ETH was moved<\/a>. As a result, we were unable to stop the operation of our service. Our channels of communication with customers via social media were also compromised,&#8221; says the message on the site.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The exchange has now partially regained control over its frontend:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>&#8220;We are fighting for the servers, the domain and your funds; our team is working around the clock. We are in contact with law enforcement authorities in our jurisdiction.&#8221;<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Users are asked to stop using the service immediately: do not deposit funds to your addresses, do not trade, do not use the API.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Update:<\/strong> According to preliminary estimates, the attackers stole <a href=\\\"https:\/\/www.blockchain.com\/ru\/btc\/address\/bc1qter5yx7re8czhchuzxklepvdxzxtqx6zupj3r6\\\" target=\\\"_blank\\\" rel=\\\"noopener noreferrer\\\">106 BTC<\/a>, <a href=\\\"https:\/\/etherscan.io\/address\/0x6ee06cd090937e6b768461fc81825762815e223a\\\" target=\\\"_blank\\\" rel=\\\"noopener noreferrer\\\">361 ETH<\/a> and <a href=\\\"https:\/\/www.blockchain.com\/ru\/bch\/address\/qrgh23rfl5dsexregp628sky9xxecwu2du8snpu8p4\\\" target=\\\"_blank\\\" rel=\\\"noopener noreferrer\\\">236 BCH<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>One user said that withdrawals of high-market-cap cryptocurrencies were disabled a day before the hack, and withdrawals of the rest were disabled several hours later.<\/p>\n<p>Maria Stankevich, the chief development officer of the cryptocurrency exchange EXMO, said that Livecoin&#8217;s executive director Svetlana Geller today, 24 December, deleted her Telegram account:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>&#8220;I wrote to Svetlana \u2014 there was a live account and it suddenly became deleted. We were in contact yesterday.&#8221;<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Kuna founder Mikhail Chobanian did not rule out that the exchange <a href=\\\"https:\/\/t.me\/michaelchobanian\/569\\\" target=\\\"_blank\\\" rel=\\\"noopener noreferrer\\\">became a victim of a hack<\/a>. By creating an artificial price dump, the platform would then buy back tokens from users.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>&#8220;To cover up the fraud, on December 21 Livecoin transferred all VRS tokens<\/a> from ETH-addresses that were incorrectly specified at transfer<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The total damage from the platform&#8217;s actions is estimated by the company at more than $800 000.<\/p>\n<p>Veros FP claims that a similar fraudulent scheme has been used across most trading pairs on the exchange since 2014.<\/p>\n<p>ForkLog reached out for comment to Livecoin representatives, but had not received a response by the time of writing.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier, in February, users accused Livecoin of misappropriating \u201cstolen\u201d Monero.
