Unknown attackers left a message on the site of the recently hacked Livecoin exchange demanding a ransom in bitcoins.<\/p>\n

“Nice try, Livecoin. But no… You have two days left,” the message said.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

The same page lists a Bitcoin address to which the cryptocurrency must be transferred. As of writing, one unconfirmed transaction for 0.00004512 BTC had been sent to it.<\/p>\n

Update:<\/strong> Twitter users said that Livecoin’s support email is unavailable<\/a>:<\/p>\n

“The message was not delivered, as the address support@livecoin.net was not found or not accepting incoming mail.”<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Earlier, on December 24, the price of Bitcoin on Livecoin surged to hundreds of thousands of dollars, and withdrawals from the platform became unavailable.<\/p>\n

At the same time, CEO Svetlana Geller deleted her Telegram account. Users speculated that the platform’s founders committed an exit scam<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Later, a message appeared on the site indicating that the exchange had been subjected to a \u201ccarefully planned attack,\u201d and that the administration had completely lost control of the servers, backend and nodes.<\/p>\n

According to preliminary estimates, unknown actors stole 106 BTC, 361 ETH and 236 BCH.<\/p>\n
