Earlier he argued for creating a payments instrument modeled on Libra (since December 2020 \u2014 <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/facebook-confirms-plans-to-launch-diem-formerly-libra-in-2021\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Diem<\/span><\/a>), capable of replacing the US dollar as a reserve currency.<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00abOver the past decade, the nature of global trade has changed. Stripe has been and remains at the forefront of the new digital economy. I would be pleased to participate in building the global infrastructure that will allow the Internet to become a driver of economic growth\u00bb<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, the former official commented on his appointment.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Stripe is counting on Carney&#8217;s experience in financial services and central-bank engagement.
