Chief investment strategist James Grigor does not rule out Bitcoin appearing in a larger number of NZ Funds Management products.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\\\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\\\">\n<p><em>\u201cIf you are interested in gold, you cannot ignore Bitcoin. Our KiwiSaver is built from equities and bonds, but other opportunities are emerging. We bought in October when it was $10,000; now the price is around $55,000.\u201d<\/em>, \u2014 explained the top executive.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Grigor saw the legitimisation of the first cryptocurrency in the rise in Bitcoin\u2019s price. He cited Morgan Stanley\u2019s recent decision to give clients <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/morgan-stanley-first-among-major-u-s-banks-to-offer-clients-access-to-bitcoin-funds\">access to Bitcoin funds<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Competitors at NZ Funds Management questioned the wisdom of adding the first cryptocurrency to clients\u2019 pension plans. They cited high volatility and the lack of real-world use for it.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\\\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\\\">\n<p><em>\u201cBitcoin in KiwiSaver is equivalent to gambling, not investing. I am surprised that they consider it a legitimate asset class,\u201d<\/em> said one of them.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>NZ Funds expects the first cryptocurrency to continue rising.
