This will mean that roughly 90% of miners agree to adopt the new rules. If the required threshold is reached, Taproot will activate within the following three months \u2014 otherwise the update will not take place.<\/p>\n<p>In March 2021, developer Jeremy Rubin<a href=\\\"https:\/\/lists.linuxfoundation.org\/pipermail\/bitcoin-dev\/2021-March\/018715.html\\\" target=\\\"_blank\\\" rel=\\\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\\\"> stated<\/a> that, if successful, Taproot would activate in mid-November.<\/p>\n<p>This update will be among the most significant in the history of the first cryptocurrency. In addition to improving scalability and privacy, it is aimed at enhancing network functionality and coin fungibility.<\/p>\n<p>In November 2020, mining pool Antpool<a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/antpool-mining-pool-backs-taproot-upgrade-on-the-bitcoin-network\"> backed<\/a> Taproot.
