The securities were fully underwritten by the group&#8217;s insurance arm.<\/p>\n<p>According to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.societegenerale.com\/en\/news\/press-release\/first-structured-product-public-blockchain\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">press release<\/a>, the deal marks a new milestone in the Forge subsidiary&#8217;s development, which aims by 2022 to offer professional clients of Societe Generale services for structuring, issuing, exchanging and safekeeping crypto-assets.<\/p>\n<p>The product is based on medium-term notes (EMTN) for \u20ac5 million.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>&#8220;This experiment, conducted in accordance with leading market practice, demonstrates the legal, regulatory and operational feasibility of issuing more complex financial instruments (structured products) on a public blockchain,&#8221; the statement said.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Societe Generale notes that the use of distributed ledger technology (DLT) provides:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>increased efficiency and smoother settlement of financial transactions;<\/li>\n<li>an unprecedented ability to structure products;<\/li>\n<li>shorter time to market;<\/li>\n<li>automated corporate actions;<\/li>\n<li>increased transparency and speed of transactions and settlements;<\/li>\n<li>fewer intermediaries and, as a result, lower costs.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Forge <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/societe-generale-clarifies-number-of-blockchains-involved-in-cbdc-testing\">is taking part in experiments with the national digital currency<\/a> (CBDC) across several blockchains.<\/p>\n<p>One of the technology division&#8217;s CBDC-testing partners <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/consensys-to-participate-in-cbdc-testing-with-societe-generale\">was ConsenSys, the Ethereum studio<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The financial conglomerate Societe Generale has issued the first structured product in the form of security tokens on the Tezos public blockchain.
