{"id":41022,"date":"2021-04-19T20:42:10","date_gmt":"2021-04-19T17:42:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/?p=41022"},"modified":"2025-08-30T16:53:08","modified_gmt":"2025-08-30T13:53:08","slug":"bitsonar-pyramid-founder-alexander-tovstenko-remanded-in-custody-until-june-19","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/bitsonar-pyramid-founder-alexander-tovstenko-remanded-in-custody-until-june-19\/","title":{"rendered":"Bitsonar pyramid founder Alexander Tovstenko remanded in custody until June 19"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>On April 19, the Primorsky District Court of Odessa extended by two months the detention of Alexander Tovstenko, founder of the Bitsonar pyramid, who is accused of organizing the murder of a former colleague.<\/p>\n<p>The three-judge panel extended the pre-trial detention to the maximum permissible term, until June 19, with no possibility of posting bail.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>&#8220;Lawyers said that Tovstenko&#8217;s health had deteriorated and that he has dependents\u2014the children and elderly parents\u2014but this information did not influence the court&#8217;s decision,&#8221; said ForkLog adviser Stanislav Boris, who represents the victim Yaroslav Stadtchenko.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The decision took effect. The accused may appeal within five days.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>&#8220;In about a month, the defense may again request a review of the detention measure under exceptional circumstances, such as a serious illness or compensation for damages under a civil suit. But we foresee that the measure will not change further,&#8221; added Boris.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>According to him, the defense for Tovstenko asked for time to review the case materials, which delayed the substantive consideration to May 12.<\/p>\n<p>At the next hearing, the court will begin examining the evidence in the case and questioning witnesses.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>&#8220;The judges did not take anyone&#8217;s side, no motions were filed that could indicate their bias, at least at this stage,&#8221; said Stanislav Boris.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>As reported, according to the prosecution, the defendant Alexander Tovstenko <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/bitsonar-pyramid-founder-charged-with-murder\">ordered the killing of former Bitsonar technical employee Yaroslav Stadtchenko<\/a>. It turned out that this was done by employees of Ukraine&#8217;s security services <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/founder-of-unnamed-crypto-fund-detained-in-ukraine-on-suspicion-of-contract-killing\">to stage his murder<\/a>. The client who ordered the murder was later arrested in Odessa.<\/p>\n<p>In September Stadtchenko stated <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/fbi-files-complaint-against-bitsonar-pyramid-founder\">to the FBI<\/a> about misconduct by Tovstenko.<\/p>\n<p>In December, the court denied Tovstenko the right to be released from custody on bail.
