The authorities of Williston, North Dakota, announced<\/a> a partnership with the payment processor BitPay. Under the agreement, residents will be able to pay for utilities using the first cryptocurrency.<\/p>\n

\\n\\n\\n\\n\\n\\n\\n\\n<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are the first municipality in North Dakota and the third in the country to offer this service,\u201d the statement said.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

\\n\\n\\n\\n<\/p>\n

City officials noted that the city will assess the initiative and, afterwards, study the possibilities of expanding it to licensing and waste disposal.<\/p>\n

\\n\\n\\n\\n<\/p>\n

BitPay’s fee will be 1%, compared with 3% charged by Google Pay, Apple Pay and PayPal.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are exploring more payment methods to meet the growing demand from customers,\u201d the administration said.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n
