Acting mufti of Ingushetia, Magomed Khashtyrov, urged all believers to abstain from using cryptocurrencies. Local media report<\/a> this.<\/p>\n

According to Khashtyrov, well-known Muslim theologians after consulting economists issued a [simple_tooltip content=’an authoritative ruling within the framework of Sharia’]fatwa[\/simple_tooltip], which states that cryptocurrencies do not conform to Sharia norms.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have addressed those who promote this line of business, urging them not to mislead people who might lose their money. Cryptocurrency is easy money; it does not carry any good. Even if cryptocurrency were not banned, it would still be regarded as a dubious thing, and Islam calls for caution against the doubtful.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Instead of Bitcoin, the acting mufti urged his compatriots to grow fruit and vegetables.<\/p>\n

\u201cCryptocurrency is not money, nor a commodity yet. When it becomes a commonly accessible, legally accepted means of payment with a government guarantee, then one can speak of money, but not today,\u201d he concluded.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Earlier in April, the Ingush ulema council forbade Muslims from engaging in<\/a> any cryptocurrency transactions.<\/p>\n

Earlier, the mufti of Egypt stated that trading Bitcoin contravenes the principles of Islam.<\/p>\n
