This is evidenced by the results of the <a href=\"https:\/\/bdc.consulting\/ru\/insights\/cryptocurrency\/bitcoin-under-female-thumb-global-study-women-cryptosphere\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u043e\u043f\u0440\u043e\u0441\u0430<\/a> by the consulting firm BDC Consulting, conducted among 400 women from 28 countries.<\/p>\n<p>The average age of participants ranged from 25 to 44 years. 78% rated their knowledge of cryptocurrency as &#8216;average&#8217; or &#8216;above average&#8217;, while only 35.4% actually work in the crypto space \u2014 the rest merely invest in digital assets.<\/p>\n<p>36.7% of respondents entered the industry thanks to a contact in their personal circle. 18% learned about cryptocurrencies from the media.<\/p>\n<p>57% of women started investing in digital assets or trading to increase their wealth. 50% cited a desire to try something new, and 44% \u2014 a desire for financial independence.<\/p>\n<p>75% of the survey participants consider themselves more investors than traders. Only 20% said they primarily engage in trading. Among women who have invested in cryptocurrencies for more than three years, 69% work in the crypto sector.<\/p>\n<p>The majority of those surveyed in crypto are attracted by various aspects of freedom: the ability to manage their finances \u2014 56.5%, decentralisation \u2014 55.8% and a sense of financial independence \u2014 51%. Low fees or lack of government restrictions are much less important.<\/p>\n<p>The most important criterion when forming a portfolio is 59% naming the asset&#8217;s market capitalisation, 52% the project&#8217;s relevance to solving pressing problems, 39% the fact that the project is funded by cryptocurrency funds. Only 16% consider it important that well-known personalities speak positively about the project.<\/p>\n<p>Other barriers include a lack of educational materials or available funds for investing.<\/p>\n<p>In 2018-2020, Russia ranked <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/poll-16-of-russian-women-prefer-to-invest-in-bitcoin\">second place in the world by the number of women investors<\/a>. 16% of them prefer to invest in cryptocurrency.<\/p>\n<p>In April 2021, the bitcoin exchange Gemini found that around 63% of US citizens are interested in digital assets, though they do not own them.
