{"id":43335,"date":"2021-05-28T09:52:03","date_gmt":"2021-05-28T06:52:03","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/?p=43335"},"modified":"2025-08-31T03:10:16","modified_gmt":"2025-08-31T00:10:16","slug":"wisdomtree-files-with-sec-to-launch-ethereum-etf","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/wisdomtree-files-with-sec-to-launch-ethereum-etf\/","title":{"rendered":"WisdomTree Files with SEC to Launch Ethereum ETF"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The financial giant WisdomTree, with $70 billion in assets under management, filed <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sec.gov\/Archives\/edgar\/data\/1864519\/000119312521175426\/d153307ds1.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">a filing<\/a> with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) to launch <span data-descr=\"Exchange-traded fund\" class=\"old_tooltip\">ETF<\/span> based on Ethereum.<\/p>\n<p>According to the document, WisdomTree Ethereum Trust shares will be listed on Cboe BZX. The company will later determine the custodian and the instrument&#8217;s ticker.<\/p>\n<p>The ETF&#8217;s pricing mechanism is built on the same methodology used by <span data-descr=\"Chicago Mercantile Exchange\" class=\"old_tooltip\">CME<\/span> to compute Ethereum futures quotes.<\/p>\n<p>In April 2021, the SEC began reviewing WisdomTree&#8217;s application for <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/sec-begins-review-of-wisdomtrees-bid-to-launch-a-bitcoin-etf\">the launch of a Bitcoin-ETF<\/a>. The asset manager was the second, after <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/vaneck-applies-to-sec-for-ethereum-based-etf\">VanEck<\/a>, to file for listing an Ethereum ETF in the United States.<\/p>\n<p>In the same month, Canadian regulators<a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/canada-approves-worlds-first-ethereum-based-etfs\"> permitted<\/a> trading on the Toronto Stock Exchange of three exchange-traded funds based on the second-largest cryptocurrency from Purpose Investments, CI Global Asset Management and Evolve Funds Group.
