The unit will allow clients to hold, transfer and issue digital assets, according to <a href=\\\"https:\/\/www.businesspost.ie\/financial-services\/bny-mellon-takes-bet-on-bitcoin-with-new-irish-unit-7950bf14\\\">Business Post<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The division will act as a custodian for cryptocurrencies, <span data-descr=\\\"national digital currencies\\\" class=\\\"old_tooltip\\\">CBDCs<\/span> and NFTs. The Central Bank of Ireland will regulate its activities.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier the country&#8217;s monetary regulator criticized cryptocurrencies.
