{"id":45585,"date":"2021-07-06T13:18:31","date_gmt":"2021-07-06T10:18:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/?p=45585"},"modified":"2025-09-01T11:55:25","modified_gmt":"2025-09-01T08:55:25","slug":"coinshares-to-acquire-billionaire-alan-howards-etf-provider","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/coinshares-to-acquire-billionaire-alan-howards-etf-provider\/","title":{"rendered":"CoinShares to acquire billionaire Alan Howard\u2019s ETF provider"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>CoinShares<a href=\\\"https:\/\/www.prnewswire.co.uk\/news-releases\/coinshares-to-acquire-global-blockchain-equity-index-809699538.html\\\"> agreed<\/a> with Elwood Technologies to acquire a business related to blockchain ETFs with assets above $1 billion for $17 million.<\/p>\n<p>\\n\\n\\n\\n<\/p>\n<p>Elwood Technologies is owned by billionaire Alan Howard, whose fortune is estimated at <a href=\\\"https:\/\/www.forbes.com\/profile\/alan-howard\/?sh=1da007a820ad\\\">$2.8 billion<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\\n\\n\\n\\n<\/p>\n<p>Launched in 2019 jointly with Invesco, the Elwood Global Blockchain Equity UCITS provides exposure to a basket of companies using distributed ledger technology (DLT).<\/p>\n<p>\\n\\n\\n\\n<\/p>\n<p>No changes to the ETF structure are expected. As of May 31, assets under management in the fund stood at $1.5 billion.<\/p>\n<p>\\n\\n\\n\\n<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\\\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\\\">\n<p><em>Investors are seeking exposure to cryptocurrencies as well as to shares of companies adopting blockchain technology. The ETFs from Invesco and Elwood Technologies are a natural complement to CoinShares&#8217; products,<\/em> said Jean-Marie Mognetti, CEO of CoinShares.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>\\n\\n\\n\\n<\/p>\n<p>In the framework of the deal, CoinShares will receive issued securities from Elwood Asset Management Services Limited in exchange for 1,298,322 of its ordinary shares at $13.09 per share.<\/p>\n<p>\\n\\n\\n\\n<\/p>\n<p>The buyer will gain control of intellectual property and existing contracts, including several new products under development.<\/p>\n<p>\\n\\n\\n\\n<\/p>\n<p>In the first quarter, CoinShares posted revenue of \u00a317.1 million ($23.7 million).<\/p>\n<p>\\n\\n\\n\\n<\/p>\n<p>Earlier in April, CoinShares and asset manager 3iQ Corp <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/3iq-corp-and-coinshares-to-launch-bitcoin-etf-in-canada\"> agreed<\/a> to launch a bitcoin ETF in Canada.
