{"id":46248,"date":"2021-07-17T10:13:54","date_gmt":"2021-07-17T07:13:54","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/?p=46248"},"modified":"2025-09-01T15:23:15","modified_gmt":"2025-09-01T12:23:15","slug":"block-one-backed-bitcoin-exchange-to-raise-75-million-from-softbank","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/block-one-backed-bitcoin-exchange-to-raise-75-million-from-softbank\/","title":{"rendered":"Block.one-backed Bitcoin exchange to raise $75 million from SoftBank"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>SB Northstar, the investment arm of Tokyo-based SoftBank, will buy 7.5 million shares at $10 each of the cryptocurrency exchange Bullish, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sec.gov\/Archives\/edgar\/data\/1829426\/000119312521211360\/d198478dex101.htm\">\u0437\u0430\u044f\u0432\u043b\u0435\u043d\u0438\u044e<\/a> filed with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.<\/p>\n<p>The trading platform <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/block-ones-bitcoin-exchange-to-go-public-via-spac-merger\">will become a public company<\/a> through a reverse merger with the <span data-descr=\"special purpose acquisition company, a vehicle for mergers and acquisitions\" class=\"old_tooltip\">SPAC<\/span> Far Peak Acquisition. The combined firm is valued at approximately $9 billion.<\/p>\n<p>Bullish Global is a subsidiary of Block.one, the company behind the EOS project. In May 2021 the latter <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/block-one-invested-10bn-in-launching-its-own-bitcoin-exchange\">invested $10 billion<\/a> to launch a Bitcoin exchange. The platform is slated to launch in 2021.<\/p>\n<p>Far Peak Acquisition shares trade on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE). The SPAC is owned by former NYSE president Tom Farley. In 2015, under his leadership, the NYSE <a href=\"https:\/\/www.businesswire.com\/news\/home\/20150120005607\/en\/NYSE-Completes-Minority-Investment-in-Coinbase\">invested<\/a> in Coinbase. <\/p>\n<p>In June, Block.one resolved a dispute with investors.
