The agency is seeking an operator through whom it can \u201creliably and safely\u201d liquidate seized cryptocurrency.<\/p>\n<p>According to the publication, customs authorities seized bitcoins and other cryptocurrencies as part of investigations into drug-trafficking cases. Proposals to participate in the tender must be submitted by 30 August 2021.<\/p>\n<p>The agency <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hankintailmoitukset.fi\/fi\/public\/procurement\/56611\/notice\/79301\/overview\">expects<\/a> the estimated contract value to be \u20ac250,000 excluding VAT. However, as \u201cthe quantity and price of the seized cryptocurrency\u201d may vary, the maximum value of the contractor\u2019s services under the agreement is capped at \u20ac2 million.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>\u201cOur aim is to establish a procedure by which we can, on an ongoing basis, securely and reliably liquidate crypto assets seized for the state, including in the future. The selected operator must, for example, fully comply with the legal requirements in the area of cryptocurrencies,\u201d said Pekka Pylkk\u00e4nen, Director of Financial Administration at Finnish Customs (Pekka Pylkk\u00e4nen).<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Earlier, Helsingin Sanomat reported that the agency plans to sell 1,981 BTC seized from drug traders.
