illicit cryptocurrency operations.<\/p>\n<p>The PBoC also noted that it would promote the greenness of financial services, aiming to minimise carbon emissions.<\/p>\n<p>In May, Vice Premier Liu He of the State Council, at a meeting of the Financial Stability and Development Committee, <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/bitcoin-falls-below-37000-on-news-of-chinas-mining-ban\">stated<\/a> that measures regarding bitcoin mining and trading were being prepared.<\/p>\n<p>In June, the PBoC held a meeting with representatives of financial institutions and <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/china-bars-banks-and-payment-systems-from-bitcoin-transactions\">forbade<\/a> them from participating in cryptocurrency transactions.<\/p>\n<p>In July, Deputy Governor of the PBoC Fan Yifei <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/pboc-deems-bitcoin-and-stablecoins-speculative-instruments\">stated<\/a> that Bitcoin and stablecoins have become speculative instruments, threatening the safety of the financial system and social stability.<\/p>\n<p>At the same time, the regulator intends to continue pilot projects with the digital yuan, aiming to internationalise the national currency.<\/p>\n<p>As reported, co-founder and former BTCC chief Bobby Lee says that China wants to regulate cryptocurrencies for <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/bobby-lee-weighs-the-odds-of-a-bitcoin-ban-in-china\">the achievement of its main goal<\/a> \u2014 the globalisation of the digital yuan.<\/p>\n<p>Follow
