The node launched by the organisation will feed price data for digital assets into the blockchain.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\\\"twitter-tweet\\\">\n<p lang=\\\"en\\\" dir=\\\"ltr\\\">Switzerland\u2019s leading telecommunication &#038; IT infrastructure provider <a href=\\\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Swisscom?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\\\">@Swisscom<\/a> is now running its own official <a href=\\\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/Chainlink?src=hash&#038;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\\\">#Chainlink<\/a> node on mainnet and servicing Chainlink Price Feeds, further increasing the robustness &#038; decentralization of Chainlink oracle services.<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Chainlink \u2014 Official Channel (@chainlink) <a href=\\\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/chainlink\/status\/1423267560968044545?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\\\">August 5, 2021<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p> <script async=\\\"\\\" src=\\\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\\\" charset=\\\"utf-8\\\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>Blockchains do not have access to information outside their networks, so they require specialized programs\u2014 oracles\u2014that provide data from external sources for smart contracts. Chainlink connects them via APIs to external resources\u2014decentralized applications, payments, and corporate systems.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\\\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\\\">\n<p>\\&#8221;Swisscom&#8217;s Digital Assets Department is responsible for the pilot initiative and ensuring the operation of the so-called node oracle, which will continuously transmit price data for digital assets to the Chainlink network. In this way, Swisscom takes on the role of a data provider for the rapidly growing DeFi sector,\\&#8221; the company said.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>In an interview with <a href=\\\"https:\/\/www.coindesk.com\/telecoms-giant-swisscom-launches-chainlink-node-for-defi-data\\\">CoinDesk<\/a>, Chainlink co-founder Sergey Nazarov noted that Swisscom possesses a key attribute for a node operator\u2014high security standards. Nazarov also stressed that more and more enterprises \u201care beginning to see the value in running nodes.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Swisscom&#8217;s headquarters are in the Swiss municipality of Ittigen (Bern canton). The company is 51% owned by the government. It employs around 19,000 people.<\/p>\n<p>Swisscom became the second telecoms company to join the Chainlink network.
