{"id":47964,"date":"2021-08-19T17:52:25","date_gmt":"2021-08-19T14:52:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/?p=47964"},"modified":"2025-09-01T23:55:18","modified_gmt":"2025-09-01T20:55:18","slug":"galaxy-digital-launches-defi-sector-index-and-fund","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/galaxy-digital-launches-defi-sector-index-and-fund\/","title":{"rendered":"Galaxy Digital launches DeFi-sector index and fund"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The cryptocurrency-trading bank Galaxy Digital, in partnership with Bloomberg, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.prnewswire.com\/news-releases\/bloomberg-and-galaxy-digital-launch-benchmark-for-decentralized-finance-defi-301358125.html\">unveiled<\/a> a new index that tracks the state of the decentralised finance (DeFi) sector.<\/p>\n<p>The Bloomberg Galaxy DeFi Index benchmark comprises tokens selected &#8216;on the basis of readiness for institutional trading and custody in the United States, as well as the quality of pricing&#8217;. The index will be rebalanced on a monthly basis.<\/p>\n<p>As of 1 August 2021, its basket included:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Uniswap (UNI) with a 40% weighting;<\/li>\n<li>Aave (AAVE) \u2014 18%;<\/li>\n<li>Maker (MKR) \u2014 12.7%;<\/li>\n<li>Compound (COMP) \u2014 10%;<\/li>\n<li>Yearn.Finance (YFI) \u2014 5.4%;<\/li>\n<li>Synthetix (SNX) \u2014 5%;<\/li>\n<li>SushiSwap (SUSHI) \u2014 4.3%;<\/li>\n<li>0x (ZRX) \u2014 2.8%;<\/li>\n<li>UMA (UMA) \u2014 1.8%.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Meanwhile, Galaxy Fund Management&#8217;s DeFi-focused passive fund Galaxy DeFi Index Fund was launched. The fund&#8217;s unit price is calculated based on the new index.<\/p>\n<p>The minimum investment is $1 million. The fund is open to weekly subscriptions for accredited investors.<\/p>\n<p>The structure carries a 2% management fee. Its custodian is Gemini Custody, administrator MG Stover. Deloitte acts as auditor.<\/p>\n<p>In July, the digital-asset manager Grayscale Investments also launched <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/grayscale-launches-defi-focused-index-and-trust\">an investment fund focused on the DeFi sector<\/a>.
