The financial institution was the first in the United States to receive such authorization from the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency within the U.S. Department of the Treasury (OCC) and <span data-descr=\\\"Federal Reserve System\\\" class=\\\"old_tooltip\\\">the Fed<\/span>.<\/p>\n<p>\\n\\n<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\\\"twitter-tweet\\\">\n<p lang=\\\"en\\\" dir=\\\"ltr\\\">JUST IN \u2013 Vast Bank is now the first federally chartered U.S. bank to let customers buy and sell <a href=\\\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/Bitcoin?src=hash&#038;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\\\">#Bitcoin<\/a> from checking accounts \ud83d\ude4c <a href=\\\"https:\/\/t.co\/xMG37OJhGP\\\">pic.twitter.com\/xMG37OJhGP<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Bitcoin Magazine (@BitcoinMagazine) <a href=\\\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/BitcoinMagazine\/status\/1433385719284879364?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\\\">September 2, 2021<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p> <script async src=\\\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\\\" charset=\\\"utf-8\\\"><\/script>\\n\\n<\/p>\n<p>The instant settlement option will be available, including via the bank&#8217;s mobile trading platform.<\/p>\n<p>\\n\\n<\/p>\n<p>The list of assets includes Bitcoin, Ethereum, Cardano (ADA), Filecoin (FIL), Litecoin (LTC), Orchid (OXT) and Algorand (ALGO), according to <a href=\\\"https:\/\/www.forbes.com\/sites\/jasonbrett\/2021\/09\/01\/with-coinbase-and-sap-vast-bank-offers-bitcoin-ethereum-cardano-and-litecoin\/?sh=4dc128f26389\\\">Forbes<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\\n\\n<\/p>\n<p>Client fiat balances on checking accounts up to $250,000 are FDIC-insured. The crypto assets purchased with those funds are protected by Coinbase&#8217;s insurance policy.<\/p>\n<p>\\n\\n<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\\\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\\\">\n<p><em>\u201cWe comply with regulation, we will do the right things \u2014 all to keep the financial system intact and safe,\u201d<\/em> commented Brad Skrivner, CEO of Vast Bank.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>\\n\\n<\/p>\n<p>According to the executive, the bank&#8217;s service will suit clients who do not have the time or desire to learn to custody cryptocurrencies themselves. The initiative aims not only to meet their current needs but also to anticipate future demand.<\/p>\n<p>\\n\\n<\/p>\n<p>Skrivner cited Gallup data showing that 60% of bank customers were interested in digital assets if financial institutions offered custodial services.<\/p>\n<p>\\n\\n<\/p>\n<p>The bank plans to add in the future the ability to deposit\/withdraw cryptocurrencies to external wallets.<\/p>\n<p>\\n\\n<\/p>\n<p>Vast Bank began considering adding digital assets to its product line in July 2020.
