The observation was shared by developer Evan Van Ness.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Fun fact:<\/p>\n<p>There are already more daily transactions on Ethereum\u2019s layer2 (~250k) than on Bitcoin (~210k yesterday per <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/coinmetrics?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@coinmetrics<\/a>) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/search?q=%24ETH&#038;src=ctag&#038;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">$ETH<\/a> layer2 is just getting started<\/p>\n<p>\ud83d\ude80<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Evan Van Ness \ud83e\udd87\ud83d\udd0a (@evan_van_ness) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/evan_van_ness\/status\/1434939047814778892?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">September 6, 2021<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p> <script async=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>The expert said he was confident the trend was only beginning to gain momentum.<\/p>\n<p>Van Ness cited figures from StarkWare (~143,000 transactions), Arbitrum (~56,000), and Optimism (~28,000).<\/p>\n<p>The Ethereum advocate&#8217;s statement drew the ire of Bitcoin maximalists, who pointed to the lack of information about transaction activity on the Lightning Network.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-conversation=\"none\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Bitcoiners swarming my feed saying &#8220;wHy dOnT yOu iNcLuDe lIgHtNiNg?&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Show me the best data source.
