{"id":51256,"date":"2021-10-15T12:41:46","date_gmt":"2021-10-15T09:41:46","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/?p=51256"},"modified":"2025-09-02T22:40:52","modified_gmt":"2025-09-02T19:40:52","slug":"btc-coms-mining-pool-stops-serving-users-in-china","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/btc-coms-mining-pool-stops-serving-users-in-china\/","title":{"rendered":"BTC.com&#8217;s mining pool stops serving users in China"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>NYSE-listed <span data-descr=\"New York Stock Exchange\" class=\"old_tooltip\">NYSE<\/span> mining company BIT Mining Limited <a href=\"https:\/\/www.prnewswire.com\/news-releases\/bit-minings-mining-pool-subsidiary-to-exit-mainland-china-market-301400707.html\">announced<\/a> that its <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/jihan-wu-sells-btc-com-mining-pool-to-500-com\">BTC.com mining pool<\/a> will exit China and stop serving local customers.<\/p>\n<p>In early 2021 BIT Mining Limited, which had previously traded as 500.com, bought <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/jihan-wu-sells-btc-com-mining-pool-to-500-com\">BTC.com mining pool<\/a> as part of a settlement with Bitmain co-founder Jihan Wu.<\/p>\n<p>According to the press release, in accordance with regulatory requirements the group will cease registering new users from mainland China and will begin deleting existing accounts from 15 October 2021.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>\u201cThe company plans to intensify its efforts to expand its business and accelerate global growth,\u201d the release said.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>On 24 September, reports emerged of <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/bitcoin-slips-below-42000-as-china-tightens-crypto-trading-regulation\">another crackdown in China<\/a> on the crypto industry. The PRC&#8217;s National Development and Reform Commission cited the mining sector&#8217;s negative environmental impact and its &#8220;negligible&#8221; contribution to the economy.<\/p>\n<p>The People&#8217;s Bank of China described as illegal the activities of platforms that enable crypto exchanges among themselves or with fiat. Previously, the director of the PBoC&#8217;s Payments and Settlements Department, Wen Xinxian, described cryptocurrencies and stablecoins as <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/pboc-views-cryptocurrencies-as-a-threat-to-the-traditional-financial-system\">a threat to the traditional financial system<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Against this backdrop, journalist Colin Wu reported that <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/sparkpool-to-cease-operations-in-china-and-abroad-f2pool-to-restrict-services-in-china\">the mining pool F2Pool will not provide services to China<\/a> and may close or block accounts.
