{"id":51606,"date":"2021-10-22T10:38:03","date_gmt":"2021-10-22T07:38:03","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/?p=51606"},"modified":"2025-09-03T00:32:46","modified_gmt":"2025-09-02T21:32:46","slug":"walmart-places-bitcoin-atms-in-dozens-of-stores","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/walmart-places-bitcoin-atms-in-dozens-of-stores\/","title":{"rendered":"Walmart Places Bitcoin ATMs in Dozens of Stores"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The largest American retailer Walmart has offered customers the opportunity to purchase Bitcoin at several dozen stores in the United States. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.coindesk.com\/business\/2021\/10\/21\/walmart-has-quietly-begun-hosting-bitcoin-atms\/\">reports<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Bitcoin sales are conducted through 200 Coinstar terminals located in Walmart stores.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>\u201cCoinstar, in collaboration with CoinMe, launched a pilot program to allow customers to buy Bitcoin with cash,\u201d said Walmart&#8217;s Director of Communications Molly Blakeman.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>After inserting money into the terminal, the customer receives a paper voucher with a code. He must register on the CoinMe wallet site and complete verification. The terminal charges a 4% fee for purchasing Bitcoin and 7% for exchanging cash, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/coinstar.com\/bitcoin\/bitcoin-faqs\">Coinstar&#8217;s site<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier in September, media reports on behalf of Walmart claimed that the retailer <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/walmart-denies-partnership-with-the-litecoin-foundation\">allegedly<\/a> intended to integrate Litecoin. Later both organisations denied the news.
