This was stated by the company&#8217;s CEO Michael Sapir in an interview with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.barrons.com\/amp\/articles\/bitcoin-etfs-cryptos-investors-51634920651\">Barrons<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The executive also said he planned to seek permission for BITO to invest in other types of derivatives \u2014 long-dated contracts, <a href=\"https:\/\/ru.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/%D0%A1%D0%B2%D0%BE%D0%BF_(%D1%84%D0%B8%D0%BD%D0%B0%D0%BD%D1%81%D1%8B)\">swaps<\/a> or <a href=\"https:\/\/ru.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/%D0%A1%D1%82%D1%80%D1%83%D0%BA%D1%82%D1%83%D1%80%D0%B8%D1%80%D0%BE%D0%B2%D0%B0%D0%BD%D0%BD%D1%8B%D0%B9_%D0%BF%D1%80%D0%BE%D0%B4%D1%83%D0%BA%D1%82\">structured notes<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>According to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.proshares.com\/media\/prospectus\/bito_statement_of_additional_information.pdf?param=2021923164417\">BITO prospectus<\/a>, the management company \u201cafter consultations with staff of the <span data-descr=\"U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission\" class=\"old_tooltip\">SEC<\/span>\u201d will be able to invest in other products correlated with the price of digital gold. Among the examples cited are Riot Blockchain and MicroStrategy. Purchases of instruments based on other cryptocurrencies are not ruled out.<\/p>\n<p>Interest in the first Bitcoin ETF <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/proshares-bitcoin-futures-etf-posts-the-second-most-active-debut\">proved to be so large<\/a> that its provider had to switch to purchases of long-dated futures. This increases the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.investopedia.com\/terms\/t\/trackingerror.asp\">tracking error<\/a><em>.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Bloomberg analyst Eric Balchunas noted the possibility that ProShares could use swaps. The total number of such derivative instruments is capped at 5,000.<\/p>\n<p>As of October 22, BITO held 1,679 October and 2,133 November contracts worth a total of $1.17 billion on the balance sheet. In other words, ProShares had used 76% of the overall limit.<\/p>\n<p>As a reminder, on Nasdaq <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/nasdaq-begins-trading-valkyrie-investments-futures-based-bitcoin-etf\">began trading<\/a> a Bitcoin futures ETF from Valkyrie Investments.
