The Chinese mining-equipment maker Canaan Creative has filed a suit against technology company HighSharp for patent infringement. China Business News<\/a> reports, citing court documents.<\/p>\n

According to the publication, the defendants are Shenzhen HighSharp and Sichuan Yinbimei. They, as the plaintiff claims, “manufactured and sold chips, as well as Bitcoin mining equipment” allegedly based on technologies patented by Canaan.<\/p>\n

The plaintiff sought to halt production and to compensate damages of 90 million yuan (about $14 million). A HighSharp spokesperson told the publication that he knows nothing about the claims.<\/p>\n

In September 2021, HighSharp \u0434\u043e\u0433\u043e\u0432\u043e\u0440\u0438\u043b\u0430\u0441\u044c<\/a> about a collaboration with the Nasdaq-listed AGM Group Holdings. In the summer the latter \u043e\u0431\u044a\u044f\u0432\u0438\u043b\u0430<\/a>, that it was shifting from software development for fintech to ASIC-miner production.<\/p>\n

In November AGM Group \u0441\u043e\u043e\u0431\u0449\u0438\u043b\u0430<\/a> that Code Chain New Continent Limited placed an order for 10,000 cryptocurrency mining devices worth $65 million.<\/p>\n

Earlier, Sino-Global Shipping America announced plans to release a new Bitcoin mining device in partnership with Highsharp<\/a>, which has become the exclusive supplier of specialized chips for the joint venture.<\/p>\n

Earlier in April 2021 investors filed a class-action lawsuit against Canaan<\/a>, accusing the company of violating U.S. securities laws.<\/p>\n
