The incident was confirmed by the company&#8217;s CTO, Georgios Konstantopoulos.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">We had a bug in Reth&#8217;s state root computation today in Ethereum mainnet, which caused multiple nodes to stall.<\/p>\n<p>Recover by running the following:<br \/>\u00ab`<br \/>1. reth stage drop \u2014datadir DATADIR merkle<br \/>2. reth stage unwind \u2014datadir DATADIR to-block 23272426<br \/>3. reth node \u2014datadir\u2026<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Georgios Konstantopoulos (@gakonst) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/gakonst\/status\/1962888853682798971?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">September 2, 2025<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p> <script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>The bug halted node synchronization using this software at block 2,327,426, affecting versions 1.6.0 and 1.4.8.<\/p>\n<p>Konstantopoulos shared a set of commands for node recovery. However, the development team is still investigating the root cause of the issue.<\/p>\n<p>Reth processes transactions and updates the blockchain state. The state root, where the error occurred, ensures data integrity\u2014account balances and smart contract information.<\/p>\n<p>The client&#8217;s share among validators is 5.4%.
