{"id":53010,"date":"2021-11-17T11:36:04","date_gmt":"2021-11-17T09:36:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/?p=53010"},"modified":"2025-09-03T12:56:07","modified_gmt":"2025-09-03T09:56:07","slug":"experts-warned-of-abuse-risks-tied-to-ecosystem-cryptocurrencies","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/experts-warned-of-abuse-risks-tied-to-ecosystem-cryptocurrencies\/","title":{"rendered":"Experts warned of abuse risks tied to &#8216;ecosystem cryptocurrencies&#8217;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Placing crypto assets as internal settlement units in Russia&#8217;s digital ecosystems could lead to \u201ca quantitative growth of abuses.\u201d This is <a href=\\\"https:\/\/www.csr.ru\/upload\/iblock\/cb1\/ghds1y1rnejvy2zzeo2dow249v9932uc.pdf\\\">stated<\/a> in a report by the Center for Strategic Developments.<\/p>\n<p>\\n\\n<\/p>\n<p>In the view of experts, existing antitrust tools can adequately cope with tying, discrimination and the use of payment data.<\/p>\n<p>\\n\\n<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\\\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\\\">\n<p>\u201cThe emergence of crypto assets within ecosystems does not create qualitatively new risks, but may increase the number of instances of realizing existing risks. Crypto assets may also generate additional risks for competition,\u201d they stated.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>\\n\\n<\/p>\n<p>Researchers noted that the current law \u201cOn Digital Financial Assets\u201d does not envisage prospective regulation of digital currency based on foreign information infrastructure.<\/p>\n<p>\\n\\n<\/p>\n<p>In this regard, they propose clarifying and refining the existing market regulation before introducing additional prohibitive measures for ecosystems.<\/p>\n<p>\\n\\n<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\\\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\\\">\n<p>\u201cRegulation of crypto assets within ecosystems is unlikely to differ from their overall regulation. If we regard digital currency as a monetary surrogate, it may be so regardless of where it is issued,\u201d the report said.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>\\n\\n<\/p>\n<p>Earlier, a representative of the Accounts Chamber of the Russian Federation stated about <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/russias-accounts-chamber-says-cryptocurrencies-are-limited-as-a-means-of-payment\">the limitations<\/a> of cryptocurrencies as a means of payment.<\/p>\n<p>\\n\\n<\/p>\n<p>As noted, on 1 January the law \u201cOn Digital Financial Assets\u201d came into force.
