Investors, including HSBC, Marshall Wace and Coinbase Ventures, valued it at $3.2 billion.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">\ud83d\udd08We have two exciting announcements today!<\/p>\n<p>\ud83e\udd8a<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/MetaMask?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@metamask<\/a> now has 21M+ monthly active users.<\/p>\n<p>\ud83d\udcc8We\u2019ve raised $200M.<a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/FLjkfCIJaG\">https:\/\/t.co\/FLjkfCIJaG<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 ConsenSys (@ConsenSys) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/ConsenSys\/status\/1460991128136728583?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">November 17, 2021<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p> <script async=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>The funds will be used to develop Infura, the infrastructure platform, and the non-custodial MetaMask wallet, as well as to expand its staff.<\/p>\n<p>Infura <a href=\"https:\/\/consensys.net\/blog\/press-release\/over-350k-web3-developers-now-use-blockchain-development-platform-infura\/\">is used by<\/a> more than 350,000 developers \u2014 over the year the number <a href=\"https:\/\/www.coindesk.com\/business\/2021\/11\/10\/consensys-tool-infura-user-numbers-grow-250-in-under-a-year\/\">grew by<\/a> 250%. The solution is popular in the <span data-descr=\"decentralised finance\" class=\"old_tooltip\">DeFi<\/span> sector \u2014 the platform underpins the decentralized exchange (DEX) Uniswap and the MakerDAO protocol. It is also used by creators of <span data-descr=\"non-fungible tokens\" class=\"old_tooltip\">NFT<\/span>-projects such as Art Blocks and Sorare.<\/p>\n<p>The number of active MetaMask users, which is also built on Infura, has grown 36-fold over the past year and surpassed 21 million. In October 2020, ConsenSys <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/metamask-to-launch-a-dex-aggregator-and-enable-token-swaps-directly-in-the-wallet\">added a DEX-aggregator feature<\/a> to the wallet, enabling token swaps directly in the app.<\/p>\n<p>In December of that year the company <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/metamask-to-release-institutional-version-of-ethereum-wallet\">launched an institutional version of the product<\/a>.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>\u201cAdoption has been so rapid that since <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/consensys-raises-65-million-from-jpmorgan-and-mastercard\">the conclusion of the summer deal<\/a>, some of our key KPIs have more than doubled,\u201d said Joseph Lubin, head of the company.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>MetaMask charges 0.875% on each transaction conducted through its plugin. This is significantly higher than the fees on other decentralised platforms such as SushiSwap and Curve.
