{"id":54017,"date":"2021-12-03T10:13:04","date_gmt":"2021-12-03T08:13:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/?p=54017"},"modified":"2025-09-03T18:05:06","modified_gmt":"2025-09-03T15:05:06","slug":"sec-rejects-wisdomtrees-bid-to-launch-a-spot-bitcoin-etf","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/sec-rejects-wisdomtrees-bid-to-launch-a-spot-bitcoin-etf\/","title":{"rendered":"SEC rejects WisdomTree&#8217;s bid to launch a spot Bitcoin ETF"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) <a href=\\\"https:\/\/www.sec.gov\/rules\/sro\/cboebzx\/2021\/34-93700.pdf\\\">rejected<\/a> WisdomTree&#8217;s application to register a spot <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/what-is-a-cryptocurrency-etf\">Bitcoin ETF<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\\n\\n<\/p>\n<p>The agency cited the lack of joint supervision agreements and its inability to curb fraudulent or manipulative practices in the spot market.<\/p>\n<p>\\n\\n<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\\\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\\\">\n<p><em>\\&#8221;The Commission concluded that BZX [the Chicago Board Options Exchange&#8217;s alternative listing platform, on which WisdomTree filed its application] was unable, in accordance with the Securities Act and procedural rules, to demonstrate that its filing complies with the requirements of Section 6(b)(5) of the Act\\&#8221;<\/em>, the statement said.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>\\n\\n<\/p>\n<p>Similar wording<a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/sec-rejects-vanecks-application-to-launch-a-spot-bitcoin-etf\"> was contained<\/a> in the SEC&#8217;s denial of listing a similar instrument from VanEck.<\/p>\n<p>\\n\\n<\/p>\n<p>On December 24 the Commission will consider applications to launch spot Bitcoin ETFs from Kryptoin.
