The letter was published on <a href=\"https:\/\/gitlab.torproject.org\/tpo\/community\/support\/-\/issues\/40050#note_2764565\">GitLab<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The document states that the organisation must remove the prohibited information from the main page of the Tor Project at torproject.org, where the Tor browser can be downloaded.<\/p>\n<p>What information Roskomnadzor deemed illegal is not specified. If it is not removed, the agency threatened to add the Tor Project page to the register of banned websites and restrict access to it.<\/p>\n<p>The page in question appears in Roskomnadzor&#8217;s register only once.<\/p>\n<p>In the public organisation <a href=\"https:\/\/roskomsvoboda.org\/post\/torproject-zablochat\/\">\u00ab\u0420\u043e\u0441\u041a\u043e\u043c\u0421\u0432\u043e\u0431\u043e\u0434\u0430\u00bb<\/a> suggested that the Tor situation is not linked to the Saratov court\u2019s decision.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>\u201cBy many indications, the attempt to block Tor now is being made using the so-called <span data-descr=\"technical means of countering threats\" class=\"old_tooltip\">TSPU<\/span>, installed at telecom operators and used not by them but by Roskomnadzor within the framework of the sovereign runet law. This view is supported by most experts. However, on what basis Tor is being tested for resilience is unknown,\u201d noted the organisation.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<div class=\"wp-block-text-wrappers-update-2 article_update\"><time class=\"gtb_text-wrappers_update_time\">7 December 2021 | 23:23<\/time><span class=\"gtb_text-wrappers_update_head\">Update: <\/span><\/p>\n<p>The portal <a href=\"https:\/\/reestr.rublacklist.net\/record\/3845366\/\" title=\"https:\/\/reestr.rublacklist.net\/record\/3845366\/\">was added<\/a> to the register of banned sites; the start date of blocking was December 7.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>Earlier in December, many experts <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/russia-begins-blocking-tor\">reported<\/a> that access to the Tor network was blocked in Russia by providers.
