The Government of Gibraltar announced<\/a> plans to integrate the RSK blockchain into the eGov government platform to improve the quality of services provided.<\/p>\n \u201cGibraltar has positioned itself as a jurisdiction for innovative companies developing and offering blockchain solutions. Implementing the technology in our processes will improve the interaction between our community and the government,\u201d said Albert Isola, Gibraltar’s Minister for Digital and Financial Services.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n Authorities are collaborating with Bitso, the largest cryptocurrency exchange in Latin America, and the IOVlabs team behind the RSK blockchain.<\/p>\n In its initial phase, the initiative will focus on secure storage of government documents and personal data.<\/p>\n The Caribbean island territory of Puerto Rico will ensure transparency of operations in the public sector using blockchain, Bloomberg reports.<\/p>\n The move was prompted by corruption scandals among officials. In one case, the mayor of Cata\u00f1o, F\u00e9lix Delgado, pleaded guilty to taking bribes totaling more than $100,000.<\/p>\n Speaker of the Puerto Rico House of Representatives, Rafael Hern\u00e1ndez, spoke of planned consultations with blockchain industry representatives.<\/p>\n According to him, the initiative will also form part of a plan to turn the island into a hub for cryptocurrency and blockchain innovation.<\/p>\n\n
