One of Mexico’s richest men and founder of the Grupo Salinas conglomerate, Ricardo Salinas Pliego, said in an interview with Bitcoin Magazine<\/a> that Bitcoin, the first cryptocurrency, is superior to fiat.<\/p>\n

\n

\u201cEverything we have in fiat can be fully seized by authorities. The government is not interested in facilitating the use of Bitcoin,\u201d he noted.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Salinas Pliego explained that the decentralized nature of Bitcoin makes it significantly harder to ban or control.<\/p>\n

Bitcoin can also be transferred instantly worldwide without intermediaries, unlike fiat and gold, the billionaire added.<\/p>\n

As an additional advantage, he cited the capped supply of 21 million BTC, which makes it suitable as a store of value over the long term.<\/p>\n

In Salinas Pliego’s view, people should focus on gaining a fundamental understanding of the history of money and fiat to appreciate Bitcoin’s value.<\/p>\n

\u201cBut don\u2019t expect to make easy money in 30 days,\u201d the billionaire warned.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

In November 2020, Salinas Pliego invested<\/a> 10% of his liquid portfolio in Bitcoin.<\/p>\n

In February 2021, the billionaire added<\/a> the hashtag of the first cryptocurrency to the description of his Twitter account. In June, he urged<\/a> everyone to invest in Bitcoin.<\/p>\n

In his New Year address, Salinas Pliego urged followers to buy digital gold<\/a>.<\/p>\n
