Together with his wife and three daughters he has travelled to about 40 countries, paying for everything with digital assets and using crypto ATMs.<\/p>\n<p>According to CNBC, the family decided to settle in Portugal due to favorable taxation.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>\u201cYou do not pay any capital gains tax, nor anything else in Portugal for cryptocurrency operations. It\u2019s a very beautiful Bitcoin paradise,\u201d noted Taihuttu.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>In November 2017, Portugal&#8217;s central bank governor H\u00e9lder Rosalino said that the financial regulator did not regard Bitcoin as a currency.<\/p>\n<p>Two years later, the tax authority clarified that trading and payments using digital assets are not subject to VAT.<\/p>\n<p>Tax obligations in Portugal apply to companies whose activity relates to cryptocurrencies. According to Taihuttu, he provides no services in the country and does not earn income in digital assets.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>\u201cSo for me, it\u2019s 0% tax,\u201d added the family head.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Portugal offers several ways to obtain residence, including the so-called <span data-descr=\"golden visa\" class=\"old_tooltip\">golden visa<\/span> or <span data-descr=\"D7 visa (passive-income visa)\" class=\"old_tooltip\">D7 visa<\/span>. Investors are required to stay in the country for at least seven days per year.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>\u201cWe don\u2019t need to be there, and that\u2019s wonderful. [\u2026] Yes, of course, we will continue traveling,\u201d said Taihuttu.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Another crypto advocate, Belgian Wout Deley also sold his home, invested two-thirds of his savings in digital assets and spent several months travelling around Europe. At the start of the COVID-19 pandemic he stopped in Portugal.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>\u201cAt any moment in time my bank account can show \u2014 at most \u2014 10,000 euros. Everything else is always in cryptocurrency,\u201d the interviewee said to the channel.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Deley added that he knows at least three Bitcoin billionaires in Portugal and another 12 people who plan to move to the country in the coming months for tax advantages.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>\u201cEveryone here has cryptocurrency. People know Bitcoin. It\u2019s in everyone,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Taihuttu told CNBC that he plans to build his own crypto village on Portuguese soil, where land will be sold as NFTs to denote ownership.
