The two companies <a href=\"https:\/\/nvidianews.nvidia.com\/news\/nvidia-and-softbank-group-announce-termination-of-nvidias-acquisition-of-arm-limited\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">issued<\/a> a joint statement, citing &#8216;serious regulatory concerns&#8217;.<\/p>\n<p>Nvidia will pay SoftBank $1.25 billion as a breakup fee.<\/p>\n<p>ARM CEO Simon Segars will step down after 30 years in the post. He will be succeeded by the head of the company&#8217;s IP business, Rene Haas.<\/p>\n<p>SoftBank also announced preparations for ARM&#8217;s <span data-descr=\"initial public offering\" class=\"old_tooltip\">IPO<\/span>. According to the announcement, it is scheduled to take place by March 31, 2023. The company said that ARM&#8217;s technologies and intellectual property would continue to be at the heart of mobile computing and AI development.<\/p>\n<p>Nvidia <a href=\"https:\/\/nvidianews.nvidia.com\/news\/nvidia-to-acquire-arm-for-40-billion-creating-worlds-premier-computing-company-for-the-age-of-ai\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">announced the purchase of the British chipmaker<\/a> for $40 billion in September 2020.
