{"id":58999,"date":"2022-03-21T12:16:49","date_gmt":"2022-03-21T10:16:49","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/?p=58999"},"modified":"2025-09-04T19:39:35","modified_gmt":"2025-09-04T16:39:35","slug":"time-to-accept-apecoin-for-subscriptions","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/time-to-accept-apecoin-for-subscriptions\/","title":{"rendered":"TIME to accept ApeCoin for subscriptions"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In the coming weeks, TIME will begin accepting ApeCoin (APE) tokens as payment for digital subscriptions, according to TIMEPieces, the journal\u2019s Web3 initiative team.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-lang=\"en\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Congrats to the ApeCoin DAO on the rollout of <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/apecoin?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@ApeCoin<\/a> &#038; thrilled we can announce that <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/TIME?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@TIME<\/a> will be accepting <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/search?q=%24APE&#038;src=ctag&#038;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">$APE<\/a> for digital subscriptions in the coming weeks on <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/tiBU5fsE5B\">https:\/\/t.co\/tiBU5fsE5B<\/a> \u23f0\u2764\ufe0f\ud83c\udf4c\ud83e\udd8d<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 TIMEPieces\u1d4d\u1d50 \u23f0 (@timepieces) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/timepieces\/status\/1505531375222501380?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">March 20, 2022<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p> <script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>On March 17, the Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC) NFT project announced the creation <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/what-is-a-dao-decentralised-autonomous-organisation\">DAO<\/a>, released ApeCoin and <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/bored-ape-yacht-club-launches-apecoin-airdrop\">conducted an airdrop<\/a> among holders of digital collectibles.<\/p>\n<p>The coin is touted as a single asset for the BAYC ecosystem and for future products from the company behind the project, Yuga Labs.<\/p>\n<p>The distribution of APE <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/mev-bot-operators-used-nftx-loans-to-participate-in-apecoin-airdrop\">was accompanied by activity<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/the-invisible-tax-on-ethereum-what-mev-is-and-how-to-counter-it\">MEV-bots<\/a>, as well as anomalous price spikes. For example, on the DEX SushiSwap quotes topped $440, while on the centralised exchange FTX the maximum was only $40.<\/p>\n<p>CoinGecko <a href=\"https:\/\/www.coingecko.com\/en\/coins\/apecoin\">CoinGecko<\/a> recorded the coin&#8217;s volume-weighted ATH on March 18 at $17.17. The feature was implemented in partnership with the Crypto.com payment platform.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier, the publication first entered the NFT space a month earlier, <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/time-magazine-sells-three-nft-covers-for-241-eth\">selling as non-fungible tokens<\/a> three covers. In September TIME <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/time-magazine-sells-a-new-collection-of-4676-nfts\">released a new collection of 4,676 NFTs<\/a>, granting &#8216;unlimited access&#8217; to its site until 2023.<\/p>\n<p>In 2021 the magazine first <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/grayscale-to-pay-time-in-bitcoin-for-a-series-of-videos-about-the-crypto-industry\">credited Bitcoin to its balance<\/a> under an advertising contract with Grayscale Invesments.
